Bengawan Solo Watershed has a strategic function and role to support the human activity sustainability. Bengawan Solo Watershed has a total length about 15.947 km2 which cover 17 districts and 3 towns in Central and North Java. The population density in Bengawan Solo Watershed area reaches to 1.028 people/km2. This area often suffered by flood which causes the heavy impact to the economy and infrastructure almost every year. The flood that often happened in Bengawan Solo Watershed is caused by the land-use damage around the river. The damage happened because of the land-use clearing for agriculture area and river area development which are not suitable with the land-use plan. To overcome this issue, Research Team from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), cooperated with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRCRCS), Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), PT. Zurich Insurance Indonesia and Perum. Jasa Tirta I develop the Flood Early Warning and Early Action System called FEWEAS. This System will give information of hourly rainfall prediction for the next 2 days, ten-day rainfall prediction for the next 5 years, as well as the water discharge and level prediction up to village scale with hourly interval in Bengawan Solo Watershed.
